More Eternal Life Blasphemy Bill Gates was recently asked this question on Reddit and his answer serves as a perfect illustration of ageism. Excuse me Bill, but old people who are dying are JUST AS IMPORTANT TO SAVE as children with malaria and TB. I'm all for saving the children, but what Bill Gates said undermined the plea of elderly people who should not be forced to suffer the fate of eternal oblivion. As far as life-extension being "egocentric", it may be... but wanting to save your own life before anyone else's, is perfectly reasonable. I respect the man's humanitarian efforts, but he's obviously no fan of eternal life. "Living longer" is also worthless. We need to live forever, or our effort to extend life was in vain. I'm guessing that Bill Gates has fallen for the lie of symbolic immortality, which is why he's not so upset about the prospect of death. Needless to say, his massive humanitarian legacy will be 100% worthless (to himself) if he dies and ceases to exist.
